ToggleThe best times to visit Ukraine
Ukraine is a hidden gem tucked away in Eastern Europe and with so much to offer any tourist that sets foot on its beautiful land.
However, with its varied weather seeing Ukraine witness all four seasons, it can often be difficult to know exactly where to go and when to go. Of course, with its spectacular variety of cities, nearby landscapes, and beaches, you’ll never be at a loss for the perfect place to travel to!
Just in case, here are a few guidelines to help you along the way!
Here are the best times to travel to Ukraine!
In general, the best time to visit Ukraine is either side of summer in May-June or September. Temperatures are comfortable, sightseeing is less crowded and there are fewer holiday makers flocking to the Black Sea beach resorts around Odessa. Spring blossom in the Carpathians makes Apr-May an extremely attractive time of year although it can still get chilly, especially at night. If you can withstand the heat, humidity and thunder storms of Jul-Aug, city sightseeing can be surprisingly uncrowded as many Ukrainians head south to the coast or bolt to their country cottages.
If you want to avoid the peak summer season, shoulder seasons like May or September / October are the best. It won’t be as warm, but you can see the flowers blossom in the Carpathians or watch the leaves change in the autumn. It will be chilly at night, but the days are still perfect for sightseeing.
The winters in Ukraine are cold, with temperatures well below 0°C (32°F). Unless you’re here to ski, or for the Christmas lights, we would recommend avoiding winter in Ukraine.
