Welt Balloon

Welt Balloon Berlin Guide

This was probably our most favourite thing we did in Berlin

Drift up but not away for about 15 minutes aboard a helium-filled balloon, which remains tethered to the ground as it lifts you 150m into the air for panoramas of Berlin.

Highlights:
View of Berlin‘s city centre including sights such as Brandenburg Gate, Reichstag, Kreuzberg church towers and the skyline at Potsdamer Platz.

Don’t worry, it is completely safe! You won’t fly away!

The Experience

Wherever you are in Berlin you cannot miss the Welt balloon , one of the world’s largest captive balloons. Located near Checkpoint Charlie the balloon regularly ascends 150 meters into the Berlin sky and gives a splendid panorama view of the city centre.

The captive balloon is filled with fireproof helium and is fastened to the ground by a steel cable with a 10 ton winch. The basket can hold up to 30 people. It really gives a great view of the city when the balloon is up in the air. Plenty room to move around the 360 degree walkway and enough time to get some interesting photos.

Location

The Welt-Ballon ascends at its base station at Zimmerstraße, corner of Wilhelmstraße in the Mitte district.

The location is easy to find if you use Google maps and type – Welt Balloon Berlin
